Frozen Uncertainty 2018

Interior Screen Dividers utilising scrap perspex, PVC and cloth with laser cut and UV Printed designs.

Final Collection for BA Textile Design at the University of Leeds.

Exhibited at New Designers July 2018

How might we engage in critical climate issues through textiles?

The project has been influenced by the pressing issue of climate change in the era of the Anthropocene, and the dark masses of methane trapped beneath the ice surface in Antarctica. Focused on recreating this through pattern and changing light and shadow. A Zero Waste process evolved by reinventing disused laser cut outs, and incorporating these into the development of the prints and the final collection.

Based on the ancient designs of Japanese Byobu dividers, which focused on reinvention and enlightenment in the home. This collection is designed for the communal workspace market, aiming to engage people through changing forms and shadows with the issues of the Anthropocene.
